As a graduating Senior from the Missouri State University BA/BS Theatre Program, I am required to create a Senior Project which is meant to encapsulate all that I've learned during my theatrical career at MSU. For my Senior Project, I've chosen to Direct and Co-Produce a fellow student's original full-length play, gay sorority girls that ruin everything.

At first, I thought about staging this production throughout a traditional 3-week rehearsal process, but what fun would that be? So I challenged myself, the cast, and the creative team to rehearse the show for just 25 hours over the course of 5 days for two public performances. The decision to direct and co-produce Arden Dickson's original play within the confines of a limited rehearsal period was driven by a profound connection to the script and a desire to prioritize the essence of storytelling over extravagant production elements.

By condensing the rehearsal schedule to just five sessions, I aimed to challenge myself and this team creatively while showcasing the core elements of theatre that truly matter: a compelling narrative, a committed cast, and the ability to foster meaningful collaboration.

This project serves as a culmination of the skills honed throughout my journey in the Missouri State Department of Theatre and Dance BA/BS Program, as well as the practical experience gained from my involvement with the Laboratory Theatre Company's Executive Board. By blending these skills with a dedication to artistic integrity, I aspire to craft a production that not only entertains but also resonates deeply with its audience. My ultimate goal is to utilize this senior project as a stepping stone towards realizing my full potential as a theatre maker, while remaining true to the essence of the story and the spirit of the creative team bringing it to life.
