Legendary: A New Adventure

On the producing side, Legendary ran more smoothly than our previous production and we were able to have 6 performances, one of which was filmed all for paying audiences. The professional theatre we used as a performance space was a blackbox space with audience members on three sides, something I had never seen or worked on until this production. There were so many unique challenges presented to me with this show, things like figuring out how to create a fire breathing dragon, having to account for the band of musician's needs, working with contracted run crew members for performances, on top of everything else. Still, this show was a blessing, silly as it sounds. I had so much fun creating so much original content in the form of marketing materials, technical elements of the show, and working closely with the writer and director to ensure his vision was fully realized.  

During my time as the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Chosen Productions, the second original full-length play I produced was Austin Sky Parker's Legendary: A New Adventure. This show was a fantasy drama that pulled inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons, Lord of the Rings, and the experiences of high school students preparing to make that big "next step" after graduation. My role for this production was primarily to help in any way I could. This meant one day I was stitching together a dragon puppet and the next day I was figuring out how to feed a company of 20 hungry teenagers, I had to be ready for anything. As well, this show was a play with music and Austin and I had the honor of working with Hannah Watermen to create an original score for the production.
