The Chosen Ones

The Chosen Ones was how I got into producing and theatre administration, it pushed me to learn and adapt as I fought to bring this show to life. From having to rehearse on a tarp in a backyard in the blazing Texas heat, to having to convince our cast that we could turn scaffolding on wheels into the Millennium Falcon, I learned how to be the voice of reason and become a creative problem solver in all areas of theatre. I couldn't have been more proud of the show we created and the joy that I felt when the crowd gave a standing ovation during curtain call. There are times when this industry can feel unforgiving and frustrating, whenever that happens I like to think back to my 16 year old self absolutely beaming when I opened the theatre doors to a line down the block of folks waiting to get in to a show about a silly little wizard and Jedi teaming up to save the world.  

As the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Chosen Productions, the original full length play by Austin Sky Parker The Chosen Ones, was the first show I ever produced outside of school. Chosen Productions formed out of myself and fellow classmate Austin Sky Parker's love for creating new and innovative theatre. At 16 years old it was up to me to find a performance and rehearsal space, generate marketing materials, be in charge of ticket sales, handle all things HR for the company, help fill in for any creative team positions (costuming, lighting, sound, etc.) as well as secure funding for production costs. We only had 3 weeks to get the show up on it's feet for a one night only performance at a local professional theatre in Grapevine, TX. On July 25th of 2018, The Chosen Ones premiered for one night only for a paying audience of 375, taking in about $7,000 in ticket sales and donations.
